Our Mission & Vision

SAPPS was created to provide ordinary citizens, private businesses, local, state and federal agencies with an ability to make sound decisions based on facts, not assumptions.

Our Vision is to be the leading resource in the industry of truth-finding. We want to allow better and accurate decision making for our private citizens, businesses, and legal clients based on a platform of truth.

Our Story

A veteran with a heart for truth.

How it began

Smith and Associates Pre-Employment and Polygraph Services, LLC, is a small veteran-owned business, which was established in March 2013, by owner Robert J. Smith. While previously employed with a state agency in Northern Virginia that used polygraph services, he realized there was a real need for a local polygraph company in the tri-state region, encompassing Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland. SAPPS, currently holds over 20 local, county, state, federal, and private security contracts, along with conducting polygraphs for couples in counseling and for other relationship and private matters. Additionally, SAPPS works with several of the biggest tri-state attorney firms conducting polygraphs in criminal matters.

The Creation of SAPPS

While working for a state agency that utilized polygraph services, Robert realized there was a void in consistent professional polygraph services in the tri-state area. He decided to leave his (then) current position, and attended an APA certified polygraph school and opened SAPPS.

Thanks to his work ethic, people skills, and ability to relate to diversified people of different backgrounds, he found immediate success within the field of polygraph. Within three short years, SAPPS had several major local contracts, which as grown today to over 20 local, state, federal, and private security contracts, along with working with counselors, attorneys, couples, and individuals on a vast array of public and private matters.

SAPPS employees are the most professional polygraph examiners in the tristate area, and our professionalism, attention to detail, and loyalty to our customers are unequivocally one of the best in the polygraph industry.
